"For These We Strive" is a 90 minute Documentary that will trace the American military history through the eyes and ears of a historical Army National Guard (ARNG) unit, Troop A, 1st Squadron, 104th Calvalry (First Troop, Philadelphia City Calvalry). While the documentary will focus on the Troop's service during the Revolutionary War, it will reinforce the Troop as a living organ in the life of Philadelphia, Pennslyvania, and the United States. Most importantly, the documentary will communicate the concepts of the citizen soldier as an integral aspect of the American experience, and the service and sacrifice of the American soldier.

Troop A has been selected for its long history, its key role in the Revolutionary War, its role in sustaining the revolution, as well as its ongoing service to the commonwealth of Pennslyvania and the United States. Troop A also maintains, at its own cost, ceremonial uniforms of a style dating to the early 19th Century, and is among the last ARNG units to do so. The Troop moreover maintains an extensive collection of images and artifacts that will help to tell its 230-year history.
